5 Tips to Have the Best Engagement Session
Oh. My. Gosh! You're engaged!!Now comes the time for planning, prepping, and meeting so many different vendors you might feel like you're head is about to explode. But, it's okay.. you'll get through it, and in the end you'll have an amazing wedding with an even more amazing person to share your life with.
Does planning for your engagement session have you a little nervous? Or maybe even stressed? Don't worry. I have a few tips for you to make engagement session prep a little easier.
1. Pick a location with meaning behind it.
Most photographers have a number of locations up their sleeve for sessions, but it's so great when we can go to a spot that holds a special place in your heart. Maybe it's the place you guys went on your first date, or the spot where he proposed. It could even be the park around the block that you like to go and walk the dog at. Think about it! If you have think you have an idea but you're not sure if it will work, just ask. In most cases, theres a way to make it happen!
2. Include your pets!
I LOVE when clients bring their fur babies along! For one, it gets your mind off having your picture taken for a little while and two, who doesn't love to love on those little faces?!? It is important to know that pets are usually included in about a third of the session, so it's usually best if we start or end the session with them. We can start the session at home and venture out from there, or have someone come along to care for them. That way they aren't left alone while we continue with the rest of the session.
3. Dress in something that makes you feel beautiful.
I don't know about you, but to me beautiful = comfortable. For example, if you're a little self conscious about your arms, maybe bring a cardigan along. I've seen this happen a million times and believe me, every time you're the only one that see's what you think are imperfections. The point is, wear something that will have your confidence soaring, you won't regret it.
4. Get Pampered!
Going off of the feeling beautiful point; engagement sessions are a great time to do a trial run for hair and makeup for the wedding day. You don't have to go crazy, but a little pampering never hurt anybody ;)
5. Relax and have fun!
That's what it's all about! You get to spend 1-2 hours being super cute with you beau and probably kissing more in one day then you have in the past few months. Don't worry about any posing because that's not what this is about. We're going to have fun and I'll capture all the authentic moments along the way. It doesn't get any better than that.
